There Was a Child Went Forth...

There Was a Child Went Forth
a poem from Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman

There was a child went forth every day,
And the first object he look'd upon,
that object he became,
And that object became part of him
for the day or a certain part of the day...
Or for many years or stretching cycles of years...

  1. Such lovely words and so very true. We must be so aware of all that our littles see and experience... x

  2. The lovely wise words of Walt Whitman fit so perfectly for your little play school. Beautiful pictures. The one of the littles shucking corn brings me back to happy summer memories of working along side my grandparents in the garden.

  3. this morning I found the book I bought in 2008 when I visited an international conference in your country . The book is called :
    BEYOND THE RAINBOW BRIDGE .
I read this morning the poem ...on page 12 !
I was looking for something .... and found the book . I live in Holland and english is not my language ...... But I absolutely liked the book so much I had to buy it.
There are many many books here in my country about Waldorf education but like this one ...no !
I loved the conference , maybe you were there too. In new Hampshire .
    Wish you well

  8. What a wonderful week you had! I love the picture of the kids shucking corn. It's such a mindless task for me to rip off the husks, but I love seeing them pick at each piece. :)

  13. Wanted to post here in case you didn't see my response on my page. I am pretty sure Marilu Henner's book Healthy Kids had a decent section on food additives, but I can't 100% remember. I read it a while ago, but it is a good read and different then most books I've read about kids and eating healthy.
