Giveaway inspired by gratitude

This past week, I received another package from a most generous woman who used to run a Waldorf inspired preschool....
Photobucket

A tin full of gently used Stockmar stick and block beeswax crayons!
I've been experimenting with them all weekend, and the purity of color is brilliant!
Again, I am so touched by the kindness of others. We have been saving up to buy a supply of Stockmar supplies! (looking ahead to when my Waldorf inspired "preschool" will open in January!) This is truly a blessing!
They are in good condition, but probably need a rigorous, heartfelt scraping!

Would you appreciate a small bundle of these goodies; previously used by little hands to create joy?
I'd love to send some to you!
Leave a comment telling me about your most favorite gently used possession!
Check back on October 15th when W will announce the winner!!

  1. Ooo tough choice i think perhaps my favorite gently used possessions are a set of wool sweaters that all the kids have passed down through several families until they arrived with us. Warm but not hot. perfect for fall and beautiful!

  2. they are gorgeous and I have never actually had the honour of using them, yet! My, and my childrens, most gently used possession is a rose quartz love heart that sits between two silver cherubs. My partner bought it for me when I was pregnant with my first and staying in hospital 'so I would have a piece of him with me' it is the perfect size for little hands and so smooth and cool and it seems as if both of my children slow down as soon as they touch it. Holds many happy memories for all of us.

  3. Do you find that the block beeswax crayons do not break easily? We want to buy some for our kids because the Imp is forever breaking crayons into teeny pieces.

My favorite "used" item? Hmm. My grandmother's dining room table. It's one of the few reminders of my mother and her family that I have.

  4. I've never tried beeswax crayons, but have been very curious about them. I think my favourite gently used possession has to be a beautiful red table cloth I picked up at the thrift store this summer. I had never owned a table cloth of my entire life, but I knew I couldn't pass it up. With it's deep red colour and white detailing, it's just what I needed to add some colour to our home.

  6. I can't recall the rabbit hole that lead me to your blog recently. But I am sure glad I found it! My favorite used possession is a Huon pine (Australian tree that smells divine)chopping board my mum gave me. The smell reminds me of 'home' I am really enjoying reading your blog.

  7. I don't need the crayons, we have the same ones (and love them). But, I just wanted to wish you all the best on opening a new Waldorf inspired preschool. How exciting! My favorite gently used possession would probably be my car. ;) Sounds mundane, but I've been relying on it a lot lately and I'm glad it's both comfortable and dependable.

  8. please don't enter in this sweet giveaway as we are blessed to have stockmars in our supply cabinet already. i just wanted to say that they clean up nicely with an old rag and a bit of oil. just polish the stray marks off! it takes a little elbow grease, but it is a lovely task nonetheless. happy coloring!

  9. Our favorite would have to be the stuffed bear that was mine when I was a baby. I love passing it down to my babies.

  10. I have been curious about the Stockmar crayons, what perfect timing! My favorite gently used possession I think is a Figgjo Flint Mixing Bowl for baking. My parents have had one for as long as I can remember, and one time I visited it dawned on me to check eBay, and I was thrilled when I found one! It's the perfect weight and shape for mixing and cooking...hard to explain, but it just keeps everything in and doesn't slide all over the place. I think I use it almost daily!
P.S. I love your blog! So inspiring!

  11. What a sweet give-away! W is probably not old enough to help, but my 5 year old loves "cleaning her crayons". :)
My favorite gently used possesions are all books. I love reading something after it's had many eyes on it.

  12. Your new blog pictures are just lovely! My favourite gently used possession would have to be a book called 'How Many Kisses Goodnight' that my mum would read to me as a little girl, now I read it to my little girl each night before bed. The pictures look as if they were painted and the words are so simple and soothing.

Can't wait to hear more about your preschool :)

    Thanks for the chance.....

  16. W is so generous!

My favorite used item is our dining room table, which someone carefully made out of pieces from a 1950s diner countertop, solid mohagany and a stainless steel pedestal.

It is authentic, seats eight, and -- configured as a square -- is a new take on a nostalgic theme. And it's where our family will gather for dinner when Nathan is old enough to join us!

  19. How Lovely!

There are so many choices, but I'd say right now it would be our kitchen work table that my parents passed along to me. I do all my prep kitchen work on it & the kids can easily slide in to help make bread, ice cookies and whatever else that our counter space really doesn't work for.

  20. oh my bread tins that the previous home owner left in the house - without a doubt! oh and by the way - you donb't have to scrape them clean...

  21. oh my goodness, how wonderful ♥ i have quite a few favorite gently used possessions... i love the gently used items so much more than the brand-new-everyone-has-one items... but my mother in law gave us a little pair of moccasins that my husband wore when he was a baby and each of our babies has worn them as well. i think that tiny pair of shoes in my very favorite.

  23. how very sweet to share your precious gift.
I would have to say that my very favorite gently used item is a wool jumper that I got when my son was under one year old, they used to call him the wool boy, because I covered him in wool from top to bottom, it was a few numbers to big for him and I would simply fold the legs and sleeves, this will be the the third winter he will sleep in it. I LOVE it!!!
    blessings sweet mama.

  27. I love used items but my Grandmother's old Pyrex bowl makes me feel closer to her every time I use it. These crayons would be perfect for my little one's stocking!

  28. I just discovered your blog and I'm so glad I did! My favorite gently used item is the bed that my 2.5 year old little one sleeps in! It was handmade by my Father when I was little and now I get to see my son sleep so soundly at night in it!

  31. I love your beautiful new banner!

We recently purchased a new set of stockmar block crayons and I even got some stick crayons that my girls use when we do kindergarten "lessons". So please don't include us in your kind giveaway. :)

I have so many treasures that are gently used. One is a ceramic container with fitted lid and hanging scooper that reads "Instant Coffee" - we use it for our sugar bowl and it belonged to my great-grandmother! Another is the glass and silver honeypot shaped like a hive and a tiny silver bee for in the handle. It belonged to my grandmother. When I would visit her house as a little girl, I marveled that she had honey (we didn't use it). Now my daughters enjoy "swizzling" it on their oatmeal. There are really a lot of special things like this, but those two are ones that are in our lives daily.

  32. Our favorite gently used item has to be our woven wrap (a Didy Marigold). Babywearing is very near and dear to my heart. After our difficult birth and challenges breastfeeding, babywearing facilitated an attachment for my son and I that can really only be reached through close physical contact between a mother and her child. New woven wraps can be very expensive and our budget is tight. A very sweet mama on a FSOT forum sent her well-loved but gently-used wrap to us for a very kind price. It truly is a treasure and we snuggle in it every day. There are so many kind-hearted mamas out there! :-)
Thank you for such a generous give-away. What lovely crayons!
    *hugs*

  34. Mmmm, tough decision. We're big on 2nd hand around here! I think my favorite though would have to be my great grandma's rocking chair. My grandmother was rocked in it, along with my mother, and me, and now my daughter. It's so special to think of that as I'm rocking my sweet one to sleep at night.

P.S. Thanks for the tip about the supply share/trade group, I joined! I'm sure you'll see my wish list go out soon, hehe.

  37. My favorite gently used (and so well loved) possession(s) are the three tiny baby smocks that my husband's mother and great-grandmother sewed for him. They were mindfully hand-sewn by his mother while she waited for her first sweet baby to arrive, and then his great grandmother embroidered tiny tiny flowers and lacy motifs on them for her first great grand-baby, the only one she would live to meet. Each of our children has had turns wearing those tiny hand stitched baby smocks made so long ago with so much love and anticipation!

  38. Now that we homeschool, we are way into art supplies. Our crayon tin has a few soy crayons and some homemade crayons in the shape of owls, but the majority of them are Crayola. My mother laughs at me when I say I want stockmars ("Why pay all that for crayons! Here, have another box of dollar store ones")but they are gorgeous.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh please don't scrape them. We use a cotton cloth and peppermint or lavender EO (olive oil will work too) The errant other colors just slide off and your crayons will look brand new.

  40. My mother's mixing spoon. She used it to cook with for years in her home and now I use it to cook with my daughter. She never got to know my mother but when we cook with it she says she is using nana's spoon.
