The Fairy Tree

Our party favors for our youngest guests....

Wool fairies from a magical tree...

The fairies are simple to create from wool roving (my tutorial here via Rhythm of the Home) and a short length of embroidery floss (since creating the tutorial, I have found that floss works better than thread!)

Our 6 and 7 year old playschool girls learned to create these fairies with such a small amount of help with securing the knots. I continue to be in awe of their abilities and confidence.

We're decorating together and looking forward to W's birthday celebration:)

The soon-to-be birthday boy, with a wicked skinned knee:(

Smoothing out last year's Birthday Banner on ironing day..

Our favorite climbing tree at the Rose Garden down the block also became a Fairy Tree this week, with the help of a few sheets and lengths of fabric..

Oh preparing for a birthday! What a special thing, how lovely all the children get to help! Also, I am always floored by how utterly creative small children are when given the chance, and the right environment!
