A morning at our local Waldorf School, River Valley...
...the hair on my arms stands up every time I walk into this nursery room...
...artwork by the 8th graders. I am warmed by the belief that "every child is an artist. singer. dancer. creator." I remember painting sets for our drama club in high school, longing to learn more about the visual arts. My drawing has always been sub par. How would my experiences, creativity, and esteem differed if someone was to assure me that I WAS able?
...worthy wisdom...
my little boy, cooking up a storm...
...handwork room...I noticed "the kinks" carved onto one of the wooden chairs...love it!
...W has mastered the art of pulling my dress down when he rightfully wants his "milky"...which has now become several times an hour.
Planning a trip to Kimberton next week; home to the 2nd oldest Waldorf school in North America. Look for a post soon!
such a lovely comment you left...this school is amazing. inspiring and calm (the way it should be).
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, soothing, inspiring blog you have. So glad to have stumbled upon it on my travels today :)
ReplyDeleteThe nursery room looks so beautiful... you can almost feel the calming energy through the picture. One thing I am noticing through many blog that talk about Waldorf education, is that children have far better artistic talents at a much younger age than what I see and remember from going to regular school when I was younger. It's absolutely amazing!

What a beautiful school! Wouldn't it be great it more children could experience an education like what's offered with Waldorf!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these photos - I live about an hour away from RVWS - never been there but it looks so beautiful and peaceful. I will soon live 15 minutes from the Philadelphia Waldorf School.
ReplyDeleteHow was your trip to Kimberton - I know a few people who live there - never been but I hear it is just as beautiful.
Once you walk into a Waldorf classroom you can never go back to mainstream.
Namaste, Nicole
That looks like one great nursery room. If only mainstream educators were in on the secret.
ReplyDeleteOh what a perfect school. I've been researching into Waldorf Inspired public schools. I love the encouragement of creativity and beauty in the schools.
ReplyDeleteRebecca, your blog is so pretty, so loving and homely. I feel your happiness you have with your baby. I was fortunate to find some wonderful waldorf homeschoolers when I lived in Miami.... I never turned back. It's such a wonderful artistic way of learning. It makes for happier, creative children...negative the tv and video games. My children have never watched TV, and their imaginations astonish me! Enjoy these special moments, they grow so fast. I nursed my children for 6 years,, Sasha for 4 tandem a year with Sania and Sania only 3 years.. I was too tired. Your baby will be healthy and happy. Beautiful!
