I am thankful for....

The beauty and magic of forgotten books....

We found these books at a used book sale last night....I paid .75 for all four of them...

The books have "discard" written in bold, black marker on the inside cover by the library who deemed them useless...the word seems more than unfitting for these treasures...

    What lovely treasures!

    As head of a small library, the word "DISCARD" bothers even me. It really does give the impression that the item is useless, when perhaps it just hasn't found its proper reader yet.

    they are lovely!! i really love the precious covers. though i think it a travesty to discard something so precious, i'm glad someone did so they can be loved by you. ;)

    what a find! Hooray for you for rescuing them and not allowing them to be discarded, the cheek of it!
    I have recently inherited a collection of pocket guides from my Granny. They are called 'The Observers Book Of...trees, ponds, lakes, beaches, mushrooms... you name it, they've observed it. They are ancient but wonderful and the boys love them.

    Here's to new life in old books!

    We have shelves full of DISCARD books. Others are stamped WITHDRAWN. Both are words that ought not be associated with books. With treasures.

    You certainly struck gold with your finds! Enchanting.

    Oh I love a book sale! I wonder what makes the library decide to 'withdraw' or 'discard' a book? There is nothing better than an old-fashioned book. Those are wonderful and they have a lovely home where they will get lots of use. Congrats on the awesome find! Peace, Angela
