There Was a Child Went Forth
a poem from Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman
There was a child went forth every day,
And the first object he look'd upon,
that object he became,
And that object became part of him
for the day or a certain part of the day...
Or for many years or stretching cycles of years...
(Our playschool week in photos...and words...)
Such lovely words and so very true. We must be so aware of all that our littles see and experience... x
ReplyDeleteOh!
ReplyDeleteI love that.
e.
So lovely Rebecca!
ReplyDeleteThe lovely wise words of Walt Whitman fit so perfectly for your little play school. Beautiful pictures. The one of the littles shucking corn brings me back to happy summer memories of working along side my grandparents in the garden.
ReplyDeletethis morning I found the book I bought in 2008 when I visited an international conference in your country . The book is called :
ReplyDeleteBEYOND THE RAINBOW BRIDGE .
I read this morning the poem ...on page 12 !
I was looking for something .... and found the book . I live in Holland and english is not my language ...... But I absolutely liked the book so much I had to buy it.
There are many many books here in my country about Waldorf education but like this one ...no !
I loved the conference , maybe you were there too. In new Hampshire .
Wish you well
What a fun looking week! The children always look so relaxed and calm in the photos. The rose garden is spectacular!

ReplyDeletePrecious! I just love these little glimpses into your playschool. What lucky little children.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely week full of good times and sunshine.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful week you had! I love the picture of the kids shucking corn. It's such a mindless task for me to rip off the husks, but I love seeing them pick at each piece. :)
ReplyDeleteyour snacks look so pretty and I love that verse:) Looks like another fun week in your playschool, your pictures look so sunny
ReplyDeleteI just love the subtlety of calling it playschool over preschool.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem!
ReplyDeleteRebecca, this has always been one of my absolute favorite poems!!! <3
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely week! Are all those roses in your yard? They're beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWanted to post here in case you didn't see my response on my page. I am pretty sure Marilu Henner's book Healthy Kids had a decent section on food additives, but I can't 100% remember. I read it a while ago, but it is a good read and different then most books I've read about kids and eating healthy.
ReplyDeleteSuch a perfect poem! I love your playschool Rebecca, you are so nurturing and thoughtful.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteLovely blog, keep on nursin' PM
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post!
